Drawing inspiration from historic JUG bands of the 1920’s and 30’s as well as the darker side of Blues and Rock n’ Roll, the BLOODY JUG Band carves out its own niche in a genre of music that has never seen such an incarnation...
Founded in 2009 and hailing from Orlando, Florida, this 8-piece group has adapted traditional Jug band instruments like washboard, washtub bass, mandolin and harmonica to create their unique sound. The band has performed all over the South Eastern United States and shared the stage with notable acts such as Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, Joe Buck, Edwin McCain, 3 Bad Jacks, Old Man Markley and many others.
In 2012 the band received critical acclaim both in the US and Europe with their first LP entitled, Coffin Up Blood, which includes 13 diverse tracks (12 Originals w/ One ACDC Cover) that try to capture the antics and energy of their live performances while upping the production value, thanks to seasoned Producer, Justin Beckler. When released the Album spent 7 weeks on the CMJ Charts, and was also Nominated for Album of the Year on SavingCountryMusic.com.
The Band reconnected with Producer Justin Beckler in 2013 to start working on their second full length Album, but to give audiences a taste of what was to come they released a 4-track EP of All New original Music entitled, ‘Murder of Crows’. This Ep has already received rave reviews and radio play from across the globe and is paving the way to the second Album Release, Entitled ‘Rope Burn’, which will be released in late 2014.
The Bloody Jug Band's music currently can be heard on over 100 Radio Stations in 12 Countries and is also featured on several successful movies, such as Rockabilly Zombie Weekend, the Graveyard Feeder and Cool as Hell.
Press has called the band everything from Florida Swamp Noir, Outlaw Country, Southern Bluegrass, Jug Rock and many others...but no label can quite describe the unique dynamic of the BJB's Live Jamboree's and musical approach. Find out for yourself.
