Carol Kay

"I'm a songwriter. I live, breathe, dream about music. I wake up with songs in my head, haunted by melodies in the shower, I'm jotting down ideas in the car on the way to work, and in between teaching piano lessons, I'm recording melodies into my iPhone. I can't listen to music without naturally analyzing every inch of it. With all that said, I guess it sounds like a burden...the fact that I can't shut that part of my brain off, and the fact that it just never stops. But I would never want it to. I'm addicted to the magic I feel when a melody comes together, and the immeasurable sense of satisfaction when that little idea grows into a song. It's almost like watching your child grow up before your eyes...in the matter of minutes, hours, and days in some cases...Nonetheless, it's a never ending cycle, and I'll just keep going and going."

Carol Kay has recently moved to Nashville, TN and is currently writing songs and recording in the studio for her upcoming 2014 release; a collection of 5 of her best songs, fusing acoustic pop sensibilities with country music.

While hard at work in her personal studio, Carol still continues to gain recognition and accolades for her talents. Most recently, awarded the grand prize in the Country category of the world renowned John Lennon Songwriting Contest, 1st Place in Country in the Great American Song Contest, also selected as "Songwriter of the Month" in SongwriterUniverse.com's monthly homepage feature, and nominated by the Hollywood Music in Media Awards for Best Score in a Documentary. Carol has also had her music featured in the new HBO series, Vice.

Her extensive educational background includes having graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in 2006 with a certification in Piano, a Bachelors of Fine Arts Honors degree from York University's prestigious Music program, and recently a Masters in Film Music Composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.

Carol has scored many independent films that have screened in several film festivals across North America including the Bermuda International Film Festival, the Houston WorldFest Film Festival, and the Asheville Cinema Festival. She is also well versed as a performer, and a producer. Most recently, she has produced singles that have been released on Canadian Country Radio by Country Music Association of Ontario nominated artists. She has also produced albums for rising Canadian independent artists, "Convalescence" by singer/songwriter Mili, and "Believe" by guitarist Kyle Fraser. When she isn't scoring films, and producing music, she's writing songs, recording demos in her studio, singing, learning a new instrument, and keeping up with her email inbox! Carol Kay is a busy lady, but has her sights set on greatness. It's only up from here!
