So I know I'm only 19yrs. old, but I feel like a veteran from the fact I have been in the entertainment
business since I was 8 when I got the "bug".
My first audition was to sing a jingle for Nick Jr. and got it! I knew from that point I was hooked. Since then, I've sang at amusement parks, jazzfests, Madison Square Garden (what an honor!) been through the trials and tribulations of being in an all girl pop group, and was even featured in an M. Night Shyalaman movie, The Village.
I was signed at 15 to Jive Records and recorded an album. Unfortunately, it never came out except for one song "Starbucks Smile" which is on the NOW39 cd. I was featured as the Now What's Next Artist. Through it all, I have had great experiences recording and collaborating with top people in the industry. The Stereotypes(Far East Movement), Kwame(Pussycat Dolls), DA Wallach(Chester French), James Poysner(The Roots), Young Cab Calloway, Ra Charm(Chris Brown), Pop Wansel(Pink Friday), and Smash Hitta(Jasen Chen). I love to incorporate my acoustic with pop, it's truly amazing how well it really goes together! My current Independent project is "My Eighteenth Year" It is a total mix of all my emotions this past year. How naive I was to the music industry and to relationships.
Be prepared to hear acoustic, electro pop, and rap! Sorry if its overload but this time around I am thinking outside the box. I hope you reach out and listen to my music. My goal is to get my all my music out there and be respected as a young up and coming artist!
Thanks for listening xoxo Maria K.
